What Mito does with audio

Mito processes the audio of the video you are watching transiently, solely to produce a live transcript and translation. Audio is never stored, recorded, or shared.

What is stored

• Transcripts are stored as text only, keyed to the video ID — locally on your device in the self-hosted version, or on Mito servers for hosted accounts.
• Your settings (target language, layout preferences) are stored in your browser.
• For hosted accounts: your email and subscription status, used only to provide the service. Payments are handled by our payment provider; Mito never sees card details.

What is not done

• No sale or sharing of personal data.
• No tracking across websites; the extension runs only on youtube.com.
• No audio retention of any kind.
